Solar Water Heaters Services in Denver from Bell Plumbing

Rheem

There are a number of ways to heat water, but none of them are as efficient as a solar water heater, which uses natural sunlight as the energy source to heat water for your Denver home. These systems are surprisingly affordable and offer a quick way to start taking advantage of solar energy in your home without a major investment as you would make for PV panels. Plus, as Colorado is one of the sunniest states in the country, solar technology works far better here than virtually any other state.

If you are interested in learning more about Denver solar water heater installation services, call Bell Plumbing & Heating today. We can install a brand new solar water heater in your home that will greatly reduce your energy bill and provide reliable hot water for years to come.

How Denver Solar Water Heaters Work

A solar water heater is a relatively simple device. A solar collector is installed on your roof to capture sunlight and use its heat to warm water. Inside the collector are tubes filled with a coolant that won’t freeze in the winter. This coolant absorbs heat from the sun as it passes through and then returns to a tank in your Denver home. The tank can use either a heat exchanger or a direct heating method (by which the coils come into direct contact with the water) to heat water.

The tank is similar to that of a standard water heater tank and is sized to provide up to 1 hour of hot water for your home during peak use. It is insulated to hold the heat as efficiently as possible and it will maintain a steady temperature as long as heat is being transferred from your solar collectors.

Supplemental Heat for Your Denver Solar Water Heater

Because there will be times in Denver when you need more hot water than your solar water heater can provide or when peak capacity isn’t sufficient, you can install a backup heating source for your water heater. This heating source can be either gas or electric and will turn on when the temperature of the water in your tank drops below a certain point. If this happens, the gas burners or electric elements turn on and heat the water. Keep in mind that this is an optional feature that we highly recommend for days on which sunlight is sparse and in winter when days are much shorter.

Maintenance and Repair of your Denver Solar Water Heater

Once you have installed a new solar water heater, it should be inspected once a year, like any other component of your home’s plumbing system. This will ensure it is working properly and that the supplemental heat isn’t being used too often. The collector panels can also be cleaned during this maintenance. If your solar water heater stops working for any reason, you should call us for immediate service to ensure you don’t start paying full energy costs for your hot water supply.

Whatever your needs, call our expert plumbers today. We can install, maintain and repair any type of Denver solar water heater and ensure your home has the reliable, consistent hot water supply you need to remain comfortable.
